I used to think that the argument stating that Hillary Clinton would be a drag on the Democratic party was a false one, that regardless of who our nominee is we would be able to get out the vote enough to overcome any Republican surge. But lately, since Hillary Clinton has come out in favor of confronting Iran militarily and has stated publicly that she would not have our troops out of Iraq before 2013, all evidence points to the conclusion that she IS a drag on our party and will repress Democratic turnout because voters will realize that she represents the status quo Bush enabling type of politics and therefore does not represent change in any meaningful way. And that isn't Democratic.
I had such high hopes for Hillary Clinton. But her most recent betrayal of that trust has shattered any confidence I once had in her. And I am certain that there are many other former Hillary supporters that feel exactly the same way I do. I do not like the way the Democratic front runners are positioning themselves concerning Iraq and as the current top front runner for our party's nomination, Hillary Clinton is looked upon as the person representing the position and direction of our party. So she has a special responsibility to represent us. And she has failed us miserably. And she has lied to us. Her guaranteed applause getter line stating that if Bush doesn't end the war in Iraq, she will has proven to be an absolute lie. Deception at it's worst. She came right out during the most recent debate and stated that she couldn't promise to have our troops out of Iraq by 2013. So just when exactly was she intending on ending this war? It seems that she expects that we would have to elect her to a second term to find out if she really meant it. And I am for one am not willing to take that chance.
The way I see it we cannot afford to have any troop presence in Iraq for any sustained period of time if we are to have a viable military to be prepared for any additional threats or if we are to restore any credibility with the rest of the world. And we can't go around threatening war with another country with no credible evidence that they are directly threatening us. It is incredulous that Hillary supporters justify her vote to threaten Iran militarily by using the same insane proposition that got us into Iraq. They ask: Do you want Iran to have a nuclear bomb? Change a single letter and where have I heard that before? And wasn't it coming from the Republican party? And Lieberman? And who wrote this most recent resolution? And who was it that voted for them both? Oh yeah, that's right, it was Hillary Status Quo Clinton, that Bush perpetual warmongering enabler herself.
Today Hillary Clinton betrayed the trust of her supporters when she voted FOR Joe Lieberman's Declaration of War on Iran. A few months back when addressing the VFW she reminded them that we needed to be preparing for the new war. But Hillary Clinton did not tell anyone at the time what war she had in mind. In fact she issued a denial that she was interested in trying to start any additional wars. But with today's vote she made it clear what she meant all along about the new war. Hillary Clinton came out in support of all people Joe Lieberman. This singular act of betrayal to the Democratic party completely disqualifies her for the nomination. Completely.
And if her action today was not bad enough the slew of supporters that have come to her defense is disgusting and the very worst display of blind candidate worship. It reminds us all of that Obama supporter 1984 film where zombies obey her slightest whim. How can any Democrat find any way imaginable to support ANYTHING proposed by Joe Lieberman? Are the Hillary Clinton supporters secretly Lieberman enablers as was once suspected? How can they betray our party with this de facto declaration of war? How can any of them support any proposal that gives Cheney a stiffy?
I guess that when Hillary went against MoveOn we should have guessed what the next action might be. I hope John Edwards wipes the floor with her tonight.
Joe Biden's political solution for Iraq passed the Senate today with a veto proof majority of 75 Senators supporting it. No other Senator has worked as hard or as long as Joe Biden to try to find a political solution to this quagmire of a mess in Iraq. In fact no other American politician has proposed a political solution. Not a single one. When the conventional wisdom was that he should give up because no one was listening Joe Biden continued to press forward demonstrating how to lead while other sit on the sidelines, criticize, stall and doubt. He fought against nearly impossible odds to push for his plan to make sense of the mistake he helped create. That is what a real leader does and I salute him. Joe Biden is the kind of leader we need for President. Someone that solves problems and is willing to work their ass off every day to make it happen. Someone who leads. You really can't ask more out of anyone. He deserves our utmost respect and gratitude. And a large round of applause.
Thank you Senator Joe Biden.
